Cambridgeshire's Abolitionists in 2021

Thurs 25 Feb 2021

Join Wisbech & Fenland Museum online for a morning exploring today’s work to end modern slavery in Cambridgeshire and its historic links to abolition. Hosted in Wisbech, the home town of Anti Slavery International’s founder, Thomas Clarkson, this event aims to bring together organisations working to abolish modern slavery, community organisations and heritage professionals to raise awareness and share initiatives and community work.
This event offers a unique opportunity to examine the political, cultural, and social work of abolition today. Hear how targeted local, national and international work to overcome modern slavery is making a difference to people’s lives today and understand how heritage organisations and museums are working with communities and slavery collections.
Keynote speakers include:
Anti-Slavery International, STOP THE TRAFFIK, Wilberforce Institute,International Slavery Museum, Rosmini Centre in Wisbech, Operation Pheasant
Dame Sara Thornton, Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, will formally open the event.
