Wisbech & Fenland Museum received a grant of £19000.00 from the Esmee Fairbairn Sustaining Engagement with Collections Fund to engage audiences digitally while the museum following the closure of the museum due to the pandemic. Working with a group of volunteers the museum team has been able to test out new ways of working with collections digitally to maintain the community's link to its museum. The New Conversations project is completing Wisbech & Fenland Museum’s very first digital audience research project, scoping and testing new ideas to create a Digital Collections Strategy and Plan for the very first time.

The Museum wants to encourage engagement with collections on a much wider scale across digital platforms and to inspire audiences to participate and provide insight into the museum collection.

Existing digital audiences have been completing a short online survey which ran until 31 March 2021. Consultation with local organisations and Museum partners is onoing and a numer of one to one consultation meetings have been held. Our next phase of consultation will be community conversations over Zoom.

 

Your opportunity to tell us what you think

Local audiences are invited to attend one of our community conversations over Zoom with our independent consultant. Your opinions matter to us and will help us to develop our Digital Collections Strategy and provide greater access to collections information online. We want to know what you think works, how you like to engage with museum collections online and what you'd like to see from us.

If you are interested in taking part, look out for information here, via social media and the local press for details of how to get involved.

All participants will have the opportunity to enter a Prize Draw for £50.00 of Morrisons vouchers.

Participants can choose between two dates and times and places are allocated on a first come first served basis:

Wednesday 28th April 6.30pm  - 1st Consultation session

Saturday 8th May 2:00pm - 2nd Consultation session
