Young artist, Beatrix Gillmore, announced as the winner of the Visitors' Choice Award in Wisbech & Fenland Museum's second Young Arts Open exhibition
Over 200 votes were cast, with 14-year-old Beatrix collecting an impressive 24% of them.
Visitors were able to vote for their favourite artworks during the Young Arts Open exhibition at Wisbech & Fenland Museum over the Easter school holidays. With 78 entries from young people aged 4 to 24 in a variety of media, there was plenty of talent on display for visitors to choose from.
This year the Young Arts Open was supported by 20Twenty Productions CIC and Wisbech Rotary and invited entries of original artwork by young people aged 24 and under living, working, or studying in the administrative districts of Fenland, South Holland, and King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.
Organiser Louise Haselgrove, of Wisbech & Fenland Museum, said: “Our sincere congratulations to Beatrix on her win. It has been great to see families dropping-in over the school holidays to view the work, and we extend our thanks to the organisations who supported us to run this year’s exhibition. We look forward to it returning in 2025.”
Over 100 visitors turned out to support the community launch on Saturday, 30 March, where 14 prizes were awarded across five age categories. Prizes were generously sponsored by businesses and local organisations, including 20Twenty Productions CIC, Wisbech Rotary, JTC Tuition, Wisbech Projects, Octavia Hill Society, Etec Group, and Blackfield Creatives.
