Family Saturdays at Wisbech Museum

Family Saturdays at Wisbech Museum

Wisbech and Fenland Museum is holding a fantastic free Dinosaur Adventure Day this Saturday, January 11, when everyone in the family is welcome to search through its galleries for real dinosaur relics and take part in themed crafts, between 11am and 3pm.

For an extra £3.50, Wisbech-based VAR Experiences will be offering the virtual reality chance to explore a prehistoric landscape at the time dinosaurs roamed the earth.

And for anyone who misses the dinosaur day first time around, it will be repeated on Saturday, February 1.

This will be the first of a series of special family Saturday events being held throughout January and early February, when the museum will be closed to visitors on weekdays.

But while it's closed to the public, the Museum's staff and volunteers won't be putting their feet up. Instead they'll be getting the amazing exhibits out of their original Victorian cases and giving them a long overdue deep clean.

Curator Robert Bell said: “People have showed us how much they care about the museum in the last couple of years and visitor numbers are well up. We have a great programme planned for 2020, but we want to do our collection proud and show everything off at its very best.

“We didn't want to shut down altogether while we're cleaning so we're offering Family Saturdays through January and February when we'll be open from 10am to 4pm. To find out details of what's on just drop in on a Saturday, or look at our website www.wisbechmuseum.org.uk.”
